New York, NY, May 15, 2017 – ABO Capital announced today that its CEO Zandre Campos was featured in the Huffington Post discussing fostering and empowering African youth. The article entitled “Fostering African Youth…Three Young Entrepreneurs Who Are Making A Difference” was originally published on Huffington Post on May 1, 2017.
Young people play a critical role in developing Africa and building a brighter future. A quality education is the foundation of building that future. Mr. Campos has worked with three of Africa’s brightest students, Cerineu Ginga, Helder Cabonde, and Juvenal Lunguenda. In high school, they built software to assist blind and mute individuals with their communication needs as part of a technology workshop. The project received several awards and accolades and Mr. Campos recognized the need for investors to sustain its growth. Mr. Campos helped them secure a sponsorship from his old company, Movicel Telecommunications, and paid the rest of the bill out of pocket to send them abroad to study at the Beijing Institute of Technology. Since graduating, all three gentleman have returned to Africa to continue moving the continent forward.
“We need to empower the youth’s aspirations by providing a platform and meaningful resources to transform Africa,” said Mr. Campos. “Africa’s youth are burning with a desire to change the status quo and are spearheading efforts that not only reflect their talent and ingenuity, but also show that they deeply understand their own problems and know how to address them with homegrown initiatives.”
Zandre Campos is chairman and CEO of ABO Capital, an international investment firm that invests in companies in the healthcare, energy, transportation, hospitality, technology and real estate sectors throughout Africa. ABO’s mission is to create global value for developing countries in Africa, while contributing to their economic development.
